JAKARTA -- South Korea announced new sanctions on North Korea on Friday, a sign of Seoul's increasingly hard stance toward Pyongyang on a day when diplomats from the two countries are set for a possible encounter at a key regional forum.

Seoul's Foreign Affairs Ministry announced the sanctions in a news release, saying four North Korean individuals and three entities involved in the country's missile development program would be affected.
