Washington (Kyodo) -- U.S. President Donald Trump will visit South Korea in late June for a meeting with President Moon Jae In, the White House said Wednesday.

The visit is in conjunction with Trump's trip to Japan to attend a Group of 20 summit slated for June 28-29 in Osaka, it said in a statement, without providing details for the South Korea trip.

"President Trump and President Moon will continue their close coordination on efforts to achieve the final, fully verified denuclearization of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," the statement said, referring to North Korea by its formal name.

The leaders will also discuss ways to strengthen the bilateral alliance and the friendship between the two peoples, it said.
