TOKYO -- Japanese legislators from ruling and opposition parties on Wednesday heard calls from local leaders to open up the country to more ride-hailing services at the first meeting of a study group on the subject.
Former Environment Minister Shinjiro Koizumi is serving as the lead coordinator for the study group, which will work in parallel with the government's regulatory reform panel.
