BANGKOK -- At least two people including a female Chinese tourist were shot dead, reportedly by a 14-year-old boy, in the well-known Siam Paragon high-end mall in the heart of Bangkok on Tuesday.

The incident raises concerns about security in Thailand's capital city and risks tarnishing the kingdom's reputation as a tourist destination. Tourism is the key engine that can boost the economy, particularly after the Thai government just granted a visa-free scheme for Chinese tourists to boost visitor spending.
