HANOI -- Disgraced Vietnamese tycoon Truong My Lan has repaid 8 trillion dong ($310 million), equating to a quarter of the funds involved in her fraud case defrauding bondholders, and could see her life sentence reduced, state-run Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday.

Lan, formerly chair of real estate developer Van Thinh Phat Group, was once one of Vietnam's richest people, owning prime assets across the country.
