KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's anti-graft agency confirmed Monday that former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri is a suspect in a probe into alleged corruption and embezzlement of government funds worth tens of millions of dollars.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Azam Baki told the media that Ismail had been named a suspect into its probe of the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) initiative following the discovery of large sums of money linked to him in a condominium. The former premier, who served from August 2021 to November 2022, had been instructed to provide a detailed declaration of his assets on Feb. 10, following an official directive by the agency.
