TOKYO/MANILA -- Japanese police have asked the Philippines to extradite four men suspected of involvement in a three-month-long string of robberies across Japan, including a possible ringleader who gave orders under the name "Luffy."

The four Japanese men are being held by Philippine immigration authorities. Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department said Friday that they all have outstanding arrest warrants related to a phone scam operation that was busted in 2019.
