TOKYO -- Countries in the East Asia and Pacific region will take 58 years more than the global average to close the gender gap, the World Economic Forum said in a report published on Wednesday.
It will take women in the East Asia and Pacific region 189 years to catch up with men at the current rate of progress, versus the global average of 131 years, according to the annual WEF report that tracks progress in reaching gender equality in areas such as economic and political participation, education and health.
