HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's population has grown 2.1% on the year to almost 7.5 million people, as arrivals from mainland China and elsewhere after the pandemic helped reverse a decline that started in 2020.

The territory's population reached 7,498,100 as of the end of June, according to new demographics data from the city's government. The data, which is released semi-annually, also included an upward revision of Hong Kong's population at the end of 2022 from earlier estimates of about 7.33 million to 7.47 million, a 1% year-on-year increase.
