KUALA LUMPUR (Kyodo) -- A bus crashed into a trailer truck in the western Malaysian state of Perak on Thursday afternoon, killing one Japanese national, the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia said Friday.

Local media reported that the accident occurred on an expressway heading south near the town of Taiping. Thirteen people -- 11 Japanese tourists, a local driver and tour guide -- were injured, according to a report from the official Bernama news agency. The Japanese tourists consisted of three men and eight women, it said.
