BANGKOK -- Same-sex marriage was officially legalized in Thailand on Tuesday, but it will only take effect in 120 days, giving the public and private sectors a grace period to adjust procedures and entitlements to ensure fair treatment for the LGBTQ community.

Many private companies operating in Thailand put measures in place long before legislators acted, extending employee benefits to same-sex partners, as well as offering financial products to same-sex couples.
