TOKYO -- Tokyo is joining the growing ranks of Japanese localities resorting to such unique methods as touting matchmaking apps and hosting virtual events in hopes of reversing their sliding marriage rates.

Tokyo will in fiscal 2024 launch a matchmaking app, run by a private company, that can be used by residents as well as people who work or study in the capital.
