SEOUL -- Lee Jae-myung has been elected South Korea's next president, the National Election Commission said early Wednesday, putting the left-leaning Democratic Party into power following a monthslong political crisis.

Lee will attend an inauguration ceremony at 11 a.m., the interior ministry said. His conservative opponent, Kim Moon-soo, had conceded defeat earlier.
