SEOUL -- With South Korea's parliamentary election less than a week away, political parties are ramping up efforts to court voters in the country's highly contested "semiconductor belt."

Han Dong-hoon, interim leader of the People Power Party, the party of President Yoon Suk Yeol and the second-largest in the National Assembly, visited Icheon in Gyeonggi province on Sunday. The city is home to the headquarters and a main plant belonging to chipmaker SK Hynix.
