TOKYO -- The fifth World Baseball Classic, an international tournament akin to soccer's World Cup, concludes Tuesday night local time as Japan and the U.S. battle for the championship in the American city of Miami.

Japan seeks to reclaim the crown, having won the first two editions of the tournament before failing to reach the final round in the next two. The Americans are shooting for their second straight championship. These two teams are meeting in the tournament final for the first time.
