NEW DELHI -- India is hoping to host the Summer Olympics in 2036 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government working to materialize its goal to organize the world's biggest sporting event, which could help the South Asian nation develop its infrastructure and sporting facilities.
Taking a major step in this direction, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has submitted a "letter of intent" to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Future Host Commission, which deals with potential hosts.
