PARIS -- Judo enthusiasts from France have descended upon the Olympic Games in Paris, highlighting the sport's enduring popularity there and the important role it plays in cultural ties with Japan.

Pascal Tual, a judo club coach from southern France, traveled to the Champ de Mars Arena near the Eiffel Tower to watch judo matches including the one where Japan's Hifumi Abe won a second gold medal in the men's 66-kilogram class.
