Sri Lanka asks IMF for rapid financial assistance

Finance minister kicks off formal talks with international lender

(Reuters) -- Sri Lanka has asked the International Monetary Fund for rapid financial assistance and the global lender is considering it after initial reluctance, an aide to the country's finance minister said Tuesday.
