TAIPEI -- Apple has begun mass producing the new iPhone lineup, including the Pro series, in India just days after starting to manufacture the high-end handsets in China, underscoring the tech giant's push to build up supply chains outside Asia's biggest economy, Nikkei Asia has learned.

Beyond the American company's urgent drive to mitigate geopolitical uncertainty, the move also reflects the technological progress India's supply network has achieved in recent years, said two sources with direct knowledge of the matter.
