Foxconn smart factory arm sees COVID-era growth in China, Vietnam

FII CEO Cheng says disruption is fueling demand for data-driven automation

CEO Brand Cheng says Foxconn Industrial Internet "will first prioritize Asian markets, targeting China and Vietnam, where there are more manufacturing activities."

TAIPEI -- Foxconn Industrial Internet is expanding its smart factory automation business in China and Vietnam -- Asia's manufacturing powerhouses -- as supply chain disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic and global chip shortage spur demand for solutions driven by high tech and big data.

Brand Cheng, CEO of FII, the biggest listed subsidiary of iPhone assembler Foxconn, told Nikkei Asia that his company has big plans for capturing this demand.
