TOKYO -- Japan's Ricoh is planning to shift part of its production of multifunction printers from China to Thailand that are for sale to the U.S. to avoid the 60% tariff on Chinese imports that the incoming President Donald Trump has threatened to impose, Nikkei has learned.

Trump, who will take office in January, had said repeatedly during his election campaign that he would take action against Chinese imports. Ricoh's sales to the U.S. account for 20% of its global revenue.
