Vaccines, variants, lockdowns -- much of the news this year has been dominated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In Asia, however, the coronavirus has at times been overshadowed by political turmoil in areas such as Afghanistan and Myanmar, supply chain disruptions, energy shocks, and the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
