TOKYO -- Singapore's new Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has a "consultative but also very decisive" approach, his deputy told Nikkei Asia's Future of Asia conference in Tokyo on Friday, as the city-state's first new leader in two decades settles in.

Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said he does "not expect major changes" in government policies or Singapore's international relationships under Wong, who was sworn in earlier this month, succeeding Lee Hsien Loong. Gan emphasized that the new administration "signifies continuity, stability, as well as renewal," referring to the key message of Wong's inaugural address.
