TOKYO -- Chubu Electric Power, financial group Orix and other Japanese companies are considering acquiring embattled industrial group Toshiba's shares, Nikkei has learned.

Toshiba is publicly seeking strategic proposals and restructuring plans, including going private after a buyout.
