WASHINGTON -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba arrives in Washington on Thursday for his first meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump the following day.

The U.S. side has prepared a red-carpet welcome that includes a stay at the official guest residence Blair House and an itinerary that occupies most of Trump's Friday -- an Oval Office meeting, an extended bilateral meeting, a lunch and a joint news conference.
