WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing to expand American energy exports, announcing landmark new shipments of liquefied natural gas to Japan and India after meetings with their leaders at the White House last month.

Though the president's strategy of leveraging energy exports to address the U.S. trade deficit and curb the influence of adversaries represents a mutually beneficial arrangement for partner nations, concerns linger over the reliability of the U.S. as a stable supplier.
