WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday revealed plans to build a next-generation fighter, dubbed the F-47, and said allies may be able to purchase a less capable version.

"I'm thrilled to announce that, at my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world's first sixth-generation fighter jet," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Air Force leaders standing by his side.
