Trump pitches 'reciprocal' trade to ASEAN

US president had plenty of sugar for 'strong and prosperous' partners

MANILA -- U.S. President Donald Trump told ASEAN leaders he wants "reciprocal" trade relationships -- ones that will allow the U.S. to slash its deficits with countries in the bloc.

"We celebrate your incredible success and we also seek economic partnerships on the basis of fairness and reciprocity," Trump told leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
