TOKYO -- Japanese retailer Aeon is set to give part-time employees wage increases averaging 7% in spring, Nikkei has learned, meaning the country's biggest employer of part-timers will embark on pay raises for the third consecutive year.

Aeon's hourly wage for part-time workers currently averages 1,170 yen ($7.46), meaning a roughly 7% pay bump would add about 82 yen. The wages will be raised by the same percentage margin as last year.
