TOKYO -- A Japanese labor organization representing retail, restaurant, textile and other industry unions plans to set a 6% pay increase target for annual wage negotiations next spring, outpacing the baseline set by the top Japanese union for the second year in a row.

Representatives from UA Zensen and its member unions began discussing terms for the 2024 labor negotiations on Monday in Tokyo. Demands will be finalized at a meeting in January.
