Japan's SMBC to send junior bankers to New York, London from second year

TOKYO -- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. will put certain new hires on a fast track to work overseas in New York or London from as early as their second year as Japan's major banks strengthen recruitment of specialized personnel.

SMBC has created what it calls a global banking course to begin with 2025's new hires. Multiple people are expected to join.
