TOKYO -- The Japanese business practice of uniformly implementing wage hikes is outdated and out of step with global norms, the chief of Japanese chipmaker Renesas Electronics said Tuesday.
"Even though Japanese companies say they are 'global,' discussions about wage increases are very local," Hidetoshi Shibata said in a Q&A session during the company's general shareholders meeting held online.
