TOKYO -- Chalk up the trend as another unintended consequence of the social restrictions phase of the pandemic: Young Japanese are more eager than ever to travel, study and work overseas, and are fleeing their home country on working holiday visas.
"If I couldn't study abroad," said Yushin Tanaka, a 22-year-old university student living in Melbourne, Australia, "at least I wanted to work overseas under the working holiday program."
