TOKYO -- The decommissioning of Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant continues nearly five years after the March 2011 earthquake.
Dealing with the rising flood of radioactive water at the tsunami-stricken plant, which suffered meltdowns after it lost cooling capacity, has been a challenge. Yet the most difficult part of the mothballing process -- removal of the reactors' melted nuclear fuel -- still lies ahead.
