KUALA LUMPUR -- Electric vehicle makers are rushing to manufacture in Malaysia. Chinese EV giant BYD last week announced plans for its first plant, slated to open in 2026, and compatriot EV startup Leapmotor is to begin local assembly in partnership with European giant Stellantis by the end of this year.
