PALO ALTO, California -- Tesla shareholders approved a pay package worth nearly $1 trillion for CEO Elon Musk at their annual meeting Thursday, to be paid in stages if the tech billionaire can help lead the company reach an $8.5 trillion market capitalization -- along with other operational targets -- over the next decade.
