TOKYO -- Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance will buy a 5% stake in British financial services company Legal & General and acquire its U.S. subsidiary Banner Life Insurance as it makes its entry into retail business in America. The Japanese insurer's spending is expected to total about 500 billion yen ($3.3 billion).
