SHANGHAI/HONG KONG -- When U.S. pop star Taylor Swift headlines in Shanghai next week to promote Alibaba Group Holdings' "Singles Day," the world's largest online shopping extravaganza, her razzle-dazzle will be only the latest move by the e-commerce giant to keep sales growing as China's domestic economy slows.
