Japan online marketplace Mercari slashes way to first US profit

User growth remains elusive as Temu, Shein grab American shoppers

TOKYO -- Japanese e-commerce group Mercari scored its highest consolidated profit ever at 26.1 billion yen ($177 million) for the fiscal year ended June, nearly double the year-earlier result, the company said Tuesday.
