TOKYO -- About 50 years ago, POSCO, formerly the state-run Pohang Iron and Steel, began operating as South Korea's first integrated iron mill. Japanese and South Koreans sweated side by side to build it. Now in their 80s, many of the construction workers reunited in November. Visiting the steelworks that they built many decades ago, they felt pride in having bequeathed something special to the generations behind them, not only steel production technology but also a human bond as hard as steel.
