Japan's Sekisui Chemical to make solar films in state-backed venture

$2bn project aims for 2027 production start for bendable perovskite cells

TOKYO -- Japan's Sekisui Chemical will mass-produce lightweight, flexible solar cells in a joint venture with the Development Bank of Japan, with government subsidies covering half the 314.5 billion yen ($1.99 billion) cost, the company said Thursday.
