Japan seeks to boost new geothermal power generation

Government plan aims to add 7.7 GW in 118 areas by 2050

TOKYO -- The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Friday outlined a plan to add 7.7 gigawatts to Japan's power supply by developing geothermal generation in 118 areas around the country by 2050.
