TOKYO -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei Stock Average reached 45,000 for the first time on Tuesday ahead of monetary policy meetings at the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan, buoyed as semiconductor-related shares mirrored a rally in U.S. tech stocks.
