Wilmar to expand sugar business despite writedown

CEO says to list China operations "as soon as possible"

Sugar prices have been depressed over the past few years due to a glut in global supply, prompting established players to pare their operations. 

SINGAPORE (Nikkei Markets) -- Agribusiness giant Wilmar International wants to expand its sugar operations despite the prolonged slump in prices of the commodity and said it may buy assets from rivals such as Olam International that have announced plans to exit the business.
