Exclusive: Toray develops 'first' 100% plant-based polyester

TOKYO -- Japanese materials maker Toray Industries looks to start mass production of polyester made entirely from plants, a breakthrough poised to cut reliance on petroleum and slash carbon emissions, Nikkei has learned.
