Japan to tie chip, machine tool subsidies to tech leak safeguards

New rules to include staff restrictions, prior notice for overseas production

TOKYO -- Japan will require companies in critical sectors including chips and machine tools to take steps to prevent cross-border technology leaks in order to qualify for government aid, Nikkei has learned.
