TOKYO -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has launched a joint research laboratory with the University of Tokyo, its first outside of Taiwan, reaffirming the chipmaker's commitment to Japan even as President Donald Trump pushes for increased chip investment in the U.S.
