MANILA -- Super typhoon Fung-wong battered a swath of the Philippines as it passed over the country's most populous island, Luzon, on Sunday night. But officials said the initial death toll was only two -- far lower than a slightly weaker storm that struck the country last week -- after more than 1 million people were evacuated pre-emptively.
