HUALIEN, Taiwan -- The Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan is traditionally a time for reuniting with family, munching on mooncakes and firing up the barbecue. This year, for many, it turned into days of hard labor in the mud, after a severe typhoon hit the island late last month.
