TAIPEI/KAOHSIUNG -- Taiwan on Friday said the 20% tariff imposed by the U.S. on the island's exports is only "temporary," and that the two sides are still negotiating a lower rate despite President Donald Trump's position that there would be no extensions to the negotiation deadline.
